BCCI Secretary Jay Shah Sets Mohammed Shami Return Date

Jay Singh Secretary of the The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has provided an update on the much awaited return of India faced paced bowler Mohammed Shami, who has been ruled out due to a serious injury.

Mohammed Shami’s Injury Woes

Mohammed Shami, one of India’s leading fast bowlers, has been out of the team since the recent Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia. He missed the latter part of the series due to a recurring shoulder injury, which kept him out of competitive cricket for several weeks.

Jay Shah’s Statement on Shami’s Injury

Jay Shah, BCCI Secretary, has addressed the concerns surrounding Shami’s recovery timeline during a press conference. He stated in the conference that we are hoping for the return of the famous bowler Mohammed Shami in the upcoming Asian Cup schedule in September 2024, as he is making steady progress in his rehabilitation. 

Cautious Approach in Shami’s Recovery

Shah stressed the need to be cautious in Shami’s recovery process given the importance of the experienced fast bowler to the success of the Indian team. “We don’t want to rush him back prematurely and risk aggravating the injury,” he said. “Our medical team is closely monitoring his progress, and we will ensure that he regains complete fitness before considering him for selection.”
